Here’s a great find, brought to you via the most recent issue of Elle Decor.
Proud Mary & Pattern People –
A two part post to start off the week:
First, the delightfully named Proud Mary works with local artisans in developing countries to produce textiles that are as environmentally and socially responsible as they are fresh.
Second, Pattern People (from which my introduction to Proud Mary came) has a great blog and tantalizing new e-book.
Above, Proud Mary’s South African Quill pillow.
Pippi Joe –
The Australian company Pippi Joe screen prints nature-inspired designs onto organic cotton and hemp.
Also for sale at Udessi, via Print & Pattern.
New from Amenity –
Perusing the very informative website Ecouterre brought me back to Amenity this evening, a site I did a post on back in April. They’ve since added several new products with their Fall/Winter collection, including these hand knitted, Bolivian-made throws.
Lila Handcrafts –
Recycled Saris –
A Trade For A Trade is now selling recycled sari blankets and scarves — and by the looks of it they’re going fast. A detail from their Black Dot Kantha blanket is shown above.
The Great English Outdoors –
The Great English Outdoors sells Welsh blankets (as shown in one iteration above), narrow loom blankets, and vintage throws — among many other wares. For related items see my post from January of this year on Jen Jones.
Raksha Bella –
Really yummy organic bedding from Raksha Bella. It’s produced in Pune India through a co-op structure focused around micro-finance.
Via (the now retired) More Ways To Waste Time.
Marc B Design –
Creators of hand-printed and eco-friendly textiles made in the UK, Marc B Design sells pillows, lampshades and – soon – fabric by the yard.
